Maggie and Jeff Weissman moved from Montana in 1985 to open their first bakery and became growth pioneers in Seattle, developing Great Harvest Bread Co. bakeries.  Their original bakery on Sand Point Way was opened in 1986 and operated by them through 2005.  In 1992 they opened the Lake Forest Park Great Harvest bakery, which they presently own and Jeff operates. Area bakeries were started with the idea of mentoring employees into their own business ownership:  Ballard and West Seattle are now totally owned by those former employees; Tacoma and Everett have been purchased by others.

Both Maggie and Jeff have been very active in their local communities to better the economic environment and address the needs and wishes of the communities.  They believe in a sustainable lifestyle as well as great bakeries.  Maggie no longer works in the bakeries but has committed her work time to residential real estate, as an associate broker with the Windermere Real Estate Company on Sand Point Way in Seattle.  Both spend loads of time with children, grandchildren and their own mothers.
